IT expertise concentrated in a single degree program. The Master in DevOps and Cloud Computing is divided into two main sections: DevOps - the combination of software development (development) and IT operations (ops) - and cloud computing. You will also learn all there is to know about product development and agile software. The subject of cyber security will also be covered. Additionally, depending on your chosen study models, you can select one or two elective modules: For instance, laws governing IT security, orchestration of containers, continuous and lifecycle security, management of IT services and architecture, and product development and design thinking. 

These and other basic IT competencies assist students in organizing and overseeing the DevOps culture in various organizations. So, by learning about DevOps and cloud computing, you're also improving business culture and assisting in the development of IT infrastructures that are adaptable, scalable, and automatable.

Online course overview

You blend skills from DevOps with Cloud Computing. In addition to DevOps and Cloud Computing, you will also deal with topics like Serverless Computing and Container Orchestration. With modules such as Agile Software Development Techniques and Design Thinking, you will learn to implement agile working methods. Additionally, you will expand your knowledge in modules such as Computer Science and Society, Cyber Security and Data Protection, and Cyber Risk Assessment and Management.

This programme includes an AI prompt engineering course, so you can learn how to use tools like ChatGPT best in your everyday life, work, and studies.

Entry requirements

The admissions documents must be provided in English or German. If they were not issued in one of these two languages, a translation is required. If you need to translate your documents, we can help refer you to our trusted translation partners. You can find more details here

General admission requirements

  • Completed undergraduate degree with 180 ECTS credits with a focus on Business informatics or computer science 
  • Your degree must be from a state or state-recognised higher education institution/university 
  • You must have achieved a final grade of at least “satisfactory” or Grade C equivalent in your previous undergraduate degree 

Further admission opportunities

If you have completed a non-subject-related undergraduate degree programme, you can still apply for admission. By successfully completing 2 specific modules of the Master's degree programme, you can gain admission to your desired 120 ECTS credits Master's degree programme.

The recognition of knowledge and skills acquired outside of higher education is generally possible.

The further admission opportunities represent individual cases to the above-mentioned general admission requirements and ensure the existence of a corresponding qualification for Master's degree programmes. Admission is at the discretion of the university.

English language skills

Depending on your personal circumstances, you might be required to provide proof of your English language proficiency. Your skills would need to match the B2 level of the Common European Framework (CEF).

Your DevOps and Cloud Computing career outlook

Upon receiving your master's degree, you will be responsible for the management and planning of DevOps activities, as well as change management. Thanks to your scientific and practical expertise, you can find work in many exciting fields. For example as:

DevOps Cloud Engineer

You design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines. At the same time, you integrate the development infrastructure with the CI/CD pipeline and IT operations.  You provide an automated IT infrastructure for self-service. On a local or cloud computing basis, you incorporate monitoring and observability in software solutions. If there is a problem with the code, you can step in as a DevOps Engineer in the middle of the development process and also get an IDE (integrated development environment) up and running again since you are thinking in a broader picture.

DevOps/MLOps Consultant

As a technology consultant, you will guarantee the adoption of DevOps methods in your company. By doing this, you contribute to the development of agile process approaches for digitalization strategies. You master particular difficulties in specialized DevOps tasks like DataScience and Machine Learning. You will make sure, along with your colleagues, that these significant issues are adequately addressed in the increasingly digital environment. 

(Multi-) Cloud Solution Architect

You concentrate on creating and designing needs-based cloud architectures. This means that you use unique cloud solutions and security principles to secure the data of your clients. On cloud platforms, you also design and deploy infrastructure as code, monitoring, logging, and auditing. You often collaborate with IT staff. Together, you will handle the migration of software and systems to the cloud as well as the sourcing of IT services.

We adjust your study fees based on your chosen time model.

Are you unable to finish your programme within the given time? No problem! If you realise that you need more time, you can simply switch to another time model with one months’ notice before the end of the month.

No registration or administration fees are charged when you apply for studying – you’ll only be charged once your studies have started, and the trial month has ended.

Your trial month begins when you receive your login credentials. This will give you the opportunity to test our courses for one month without obligation, before being charged. During that month, you can then take your first courses and start learning right away!

Once the trial month is over, your studies continue. You’ll pay your tuition fees according to your contract.

At IU, we believe in full transparency – so there are no hidden fees. You only pay for your tuition and the one-time campus registration fee of €1,500.
