How to get started

How to get enrolled in your study programme

1. Your online application

Open our online application form, select your study programme and the starting date of your choice and upload your documents (certificates, CV, etc.) – straight away or at a later time.

2. Your study contract

You can send off your online enrolment form with no obligations whatsoever. You can also try out our online study programme as you sign up for your 1-month free trial period.

We’ll send you your contract per e-mail. If you choose to study at IU International University of Applied Sciences, all that’s left for you to do is sign your contract and send it back to us.

If your application will not be accepted due to not meeting the admission requirements, your contract will be terminated and you will not be charged any fees.

3. Getting started

We’ll check your documents and enrol you for the study programme of your choice.

We’ll then send you your log-in details via e-mail, so you can log in to the IU International University of Applied Sciences Online Campus and take part in the introductory tutorial for an easy start to your studies. You should be able to start studying for your degree in just a few days.

Bachelor study programmes entry requirements

Your entry requirements for a bachelor’s study programme

At IU International University of Applied Sciences, you can start studying for your Bachelor’s degree with or without a secondary school diploma.

General or subject-related secondary school diploma (or equivalent): As an applicant with a general secondary school diploma that qualifies you to start university, you’ll be able to start our Bachelor’s degree course straight away without any testing. Depending on your specialisation, if you’re an applicant with a subject-related secondary school diploma, you can either start your Bachelor’s degree course right away or with an entrance qualification.
No secondary school diploma: You can also study at IU without a secondary school diploma. All you need is:
A master craftsman’s certificate or
An advanced vocational qualification (e.g. from the German Chambers of Commerce and Industry) or
At least two years of vocational training followed by at least 3 years of (full-time) work experience.

Your checklist for starting your bachelor study programme

We need the following documents to enrol you for your online study programme at IU International University of Applied Sciences:

Your signed study contract
A copy of your university entrance qualification: general or subject-related secondary school diploma or equivalent, master craftsman’s certificate, advanced vocational qualification, training certificate or proof of the required work experience.
A tabular CV, including your training, education, and work experience
A copy of your official photo ID
Proof of English language skills (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test, Cambridge Certificate or other equivalent proof), obtained no more than two years before the start of studies

Master and MBA study programmes entry requirements

Online degree saver programme

With our new Online Degree Saver Programme, you get more than just a special discount on your fees; you also have more options for starting your studies even if you don’t meet all of the admission requirements.

However, you still must meet certain criteria in order to be able to successfully be admitted to your study programme, and in order to graduate.

Below you will find information regarding the options you have in cases where you do not meet the admission requirements for a specific programme:

Your entry requirements for a master or MBA study programme

In order to study for a Master’s degree at IU International University of Applied Sciences, you need to have completed an undergraduate degree – for example, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent diploma. Certificates for degrees completed outside Germany must be sent along with a copy that has been translated into German or English. Some Master’s degree programmes also have special entry requirements.

Please note that some study programmes have special entry requirements (e.g. previous degree in a specific field, requisite work experience or previous knowledge in certain subject areas).
