IU Orientation Week

The perfect welcome to university life at IU

In your first week, a series of live presentations walks you through everything you need to know to get started: how your studies are organised, how the campus works day to day, and how to handle the practical steps of settling in Germany.

What we’ll cover:

• Introduction to the teams at IU and who to contact for what

• How your studies work: myCampus, lectures and self-study, exams and deadlines

• Administrative processes

• Health insurance in Germany

• Transportation ticket (Deutschlandsemesterticket)

• Other useful information to help you navigate life in Germany

During Orientation Week, we host a small fair right on campus where you can meet the people and organisations who’ll support you throughout your time at IU, all in one place, at your own pace.

Stop by the stands to chat with our IU service teams and with external partners who are relevant to your studies and your everyday life in your new city. It’s a relaxed way to get your questions answered, pick up useful information, and know exactly where to go once your studies begin.

• IU service teams: Student Office, Career and Development team, Study Coaching, and more

• External partners relevant to your studies and daily life

University is about more than lectures. It’s about the people you meet along the way. Throughout Orientation Week, our Event team organises social activities so you can get to know your fellow students and start to feel at home on campus and in your new city.

From Meet-and-Greet sessions to informal get-togethers, these activities are the easiest way to make friends early and build a network that lasts well beyond your first week.
