Requirements for your MBA in Germany
Completed degree from a public or officially recognised university/higher education institution.
You must have achieved our minimum grade requirements in your previous degree.
Your undergraduate studies must amount to 240 ECTS credits to begin a 60-ECTS MBA.
Your undergraduate studies must amount to 210 ECTS to begin a 90-ECTS MBA.
Once your application and documents are submitted, you will be invited to a 15-minute online interview conducted by our admission team. During the interview we will discuss your academic background, reasons for pursuing further study, and career objectives.
The interview is a required component of the eligibility check for international applicants. If you miss your interview, the invitation will be sent again to allow you to schedule a new appointment. You may reschedule the interview up to three times. After the third invitation, and if there is no attendance, IU will assume you are no longer interested.
If the interview is not passed, admission screeners will review the reasons and provide recommendations for next steps. For example, if the reason is related to English skills, the team may suggest registering for an English course or improving conversation skills. Applicants may contact IU when they wish to retake the interview, at which point the application can be reactivated.
For admission to the One-year MBA 60 ECTS MBA programme or to the 90 ECTS MBA programme, applicants with an undergraduate degree comprising 210 ECTS or 180 ECTS credits can compensate for missing ECTS credits (up to a maximum of 30 ECTS) by
Providing proof of at least one year of full-time work experience to compensate for a maximum of 30 ECTS at the start of the study programme.
This work experience must be acquired after completing the undergraduate degree.
Recognition of knowledge and abilities acquired outside of higher education is possible in principle.
You must have at least one year of professional work experience (achieved after previous studies) before starting an MBA programme.
You can provide us with a translation of your employment contract and your pay slip, or you can ask your company to fill out this form in English, sign it, apply the company stamp and send it to us: Proof of work experience (EN)
If your first degree is not specialised in a business-related field, you may still be admitted to our programme if your professional work experience is in business management. Admission to MBA programmes will then be decided individually following an interview with our academic staff.
We accept the following English language skills certificates*:
IELTS Academic (at least 6.5 points)
TOEFL iBT (Test Centre) (at least 90 points)
Cambridge certificate (B2 First min. score of 176)
*Proof must not be older than two years.

Citizenship: If you are from a country where English is the official and educational language, your passport can serve as proof of English proficiency.

If you are a non-European Union / international student, you will likely need a German student visa to study in Germany. To obtain a student visa, you generally need an acceptance letter from a German university, proof of sufficient funds to cover your living expenses and health insurance coverage.
If you live in China, India, or Vietnam, you will also need to obtain an APS certificate in order to study at IU.

2. Choose your programme

3. Apply online with your documents
Once you are ready, it's time to apply online. Click on the 'Apply now' button to fill out and submit the online application form. You'll need to upload the documents required to be enrolled in your programme. You can find more information about these documents on the specific programme page. Don't worry - you can always save your application and return to it when you have everything.

4. Document Check & Admission interview
Once we’ve received your online application, our admissions team will review your uploaded documents. In case any additional documents are required, we will contact you via email.
If needed you can upload the requested documents directly to your application overview page.
Once your application is complete and all documents are submitted, you’ll receive an invitation to book a 15-minute online interview.
5. Sign Your Contract and Pay the Campus Registration Fee
Once your application to IU has been accepted, you will receive your personalised study contract via email. Simply review, sign, and return it to us.
Your study contract will include details about your study fees and starting date.
At the same time, you will need to pay the one-time €1,500 campus registration fee. Once both steps are completed, you will receive your official Letter of Acceptance.
6. Apply for your student visa

*Chinese, Indian, and Vietnamese students also need to provide an APS certificate for their student visa application. Please note that this may cause a delay in obtaining your visa.
7. Start your studies in Germany
Once you've arrived in Germany, you will need to register on campus. Then, you’ll receive an email with login details for all the systems you'll need during your studies: the IU Learn app, myCampus, and your student e-mail.
