Starting your studies online with IU allows you to save big on your tuition fee, compared to a full program on campus at Acsenda.

As a general rule, you will pay the IU fees for the time you will spend at IU, while you will pay the Acsenda fees for the time you will spend at Acsenda.

And at the end of your studies you will earn a 4-year Bachelor Acsenda degree.

Admission Requirements

General

To transfer to on-campus studies at Acsenda, you will need to meet the following admission requirements: 

  • Completed all required modules of semesters 1 to 4 and passed exams (50% grade) at IU.
    Please note that no modules of semester 5 or 6 need to be completed at IU.
  • A copy of a valid study permit and passport (for students already in Canada). 
  • Proof of graduation from a high school or equivalent program with a grade of C+ (65%) or higher.
  • Proof you meet the English requirement (see the next section).
  • Official transcripts, diplomas and certificates with a certified English translation.

English Language

You will need to provide proof of English competency through one of the following: 

-A local university entrance qualification with minimum 65% or C+ in English language if English is the principal language of your country. 

-Graduated with a minimum 65% or C+ in English language at an international school where English is the language of instruction. 

-Graduated from an accredited college or university where English is the language of instruction.

-Successful completion (within two years of application date) of one of the English Language Proficiency Tests listed below: 

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic – 6.5 (no band less than 6.0)
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) – iBT 90; (writing minimum 22, other skills minimum 18)
  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) – Band 70 (no skill less than60)
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE - Academic) – 60 (no skill less than 55)
  • Cambridge Advanced English Test (CAE) – C
  • ASM’s English Proficiency Test – 80
  • Duolingo English Test (DET) – 120 (Temporary test)

Studying at Acsenda: All you need to know

Visa options

Student visa 
All students will require a Study Permit to study in a degree program in Canada. Students are responsible for making their own arrangements for submitting their study permit application. However, please see the Acsenda website for additional information on how to make your application. Acsenda also provides webinars featuring Canadian Immigration professionals. Please contact the institution for more details.

Post-study visa 
To be eligible for the post-graduate work permit (PGWP), you must have completed a study programme of at least 8 months at a designated learning institution (DLIs) that leads to a degree, diploma, or certificate. You will need to apply for the PGWP within 180 days upon completion of studies.
Also consider that you will need to apply for the co-op work permit.

Academic Year & Exams

  • 4 terms per year: January, April, July, and October
  • Each term is 12 weeks long
  • Examination are given during assessment weeks scheduled during the 6th week (Midterms) and 12th week (Finals)

Accommodation & Housing

Acsenda provide support through its channels, but students are responsible to find an accommodation. For more information, please visit the dedicated section on the Acsenda website.

Health Insurance

The Medical Service Plan (MSP) is a compulsory health insurance plan for all British Columbia residents. International students will need to apply for the MSP when they first arrive in Canada and be required to pay a monthly healthcare coverage fee of $75.
Also consider the mandatory bridging insurance (GuardMe). For more information, please visit the dedicated section on the Acsenda website.

Work & Study

International students can work up to 20 hours on- or off campus during the term, and full-time during term breaks. Please check your issued study permit for any work restrictions. You will need to apply for a Social Insurance Number (SIN) to work in Canada. Note: for the latest updates, please check the official immigration website here.

Please note that the following table simply provides a rough estimation of your general living costs during your study period at ASM. These may vary depending on individual needs.

Am I eligible for the Study Abroad Alliance programme with Acsenda?

You must meet the following criteria at the time of your application to Acsenda: 

  • Be enrolled at IU as a student 
  • Completed two years of studies at IU (depending on your degree programme) with a pass in all courses 
  • Have proof of English language skills 
  • Meet the relevant admissions criteria at Acsenda. Please see the Admission Requirement section for more information. 

What do I need to provide in my application?

  • The Study Abroad Alliance application form via IU’s myCampus student platform 
  • Official transcripts of your first two years of studies at IU 
  • Official transcripts of your high school diploma in English (with signature & stamp of home institution)* 
  • Proof of English proficiency* 
  • Valid passport copy (copy of ID preliminarily sufficient)

Which degree will I receive at the end of my studies?

You will receive a Canadian degree from Acsenda School of Management (ASM) when you graduate. Once you’ve successfully transferred to Acsenda during your final year, your study contract with IU will end. Any questions pertaining to your degree henceforth should be directed to the Acsenda team. 

Will IU assist in my Canadian student visa application?

IU is only facilitating the Study Abroad Alliance process. Should you require assistance relating to visa application, enrolment at Acsenda, or Study Abroad Alliance application, please reach out to the Acsenda team directly. 

Does the IU Scholarship cover my final year at Acsenda?

No, the IU Scholarship will only be applied to your tuition fees for your study period at IU. However, the Study Abroad Alliance partnership allows you to enjoy a reduced tuition fee during your study period at Acsenda.
