The IU Community
Study independently, but not alone

One of the biggest challenges of being an online student can be not having enough support. But that’s not the case at IU International University of Applied Sciences.

As an IU student, you’ll have support from our study community every step of the way – from filling out your application to starting your career as a graduate.

Get to know the different departments and people you’ll be interacting with throughout your study journey, and see how they can help you stay on track, be motivated, and reach your career goals.

Your study advisors

The study advisory team is here to answer any questions you have about your studies and application: admission requirements, the courses you’ll take, which programme is best suited for you – whatever your question, they have the answer.

If you want help with filling out your online application, need info about funding and financing options, or want to ask your employer to pay for your studies, the study advisors are the people to ask.

You can chat with them over a telephone call, via e-mail, or even book a free 30-minute video consultation.

Your admissions team

Once you’ve submitted your online application form, your application will be handled by the IU admissions team.

Regardless of where you come from or the documents you have, the admissions team will know exactly if you meet the admission requirements for the programme you chose.

They’re available to answer any questions you have about your application, to ensure that you’re enrolled for your studies as quickly and as smoothly as possible.

Once you’ve confirmed your contract, they’ll send you an e-mail with everything you need to know to start your studies, and they’ll be in touch with you after the start your studies as well - until you successfully complete your enrolment.

Your professors and tutors

As an online student, most of your work will be done independently. You’ll have all of your course materials available 24/7 via the IU Learn app and myCampus, so how, when, and where to study is all up to you.

But that doesn’t mean you’ll be studying alone. Every course has a tutor, and you’ll get regular updates and opportunities to interact with them, either via e-mail or at the monthly Q&A sessions offered in each course.

Your professors won’t be in regular contact with you, but they’re responsible for building the study programme curriculum and the contents of each course, and you’ll get a chance to work closely with them when you write your final dissertation or capstone project.

Your student community

There’s plenty of ways to get connected, and more than one way to study. You can use the regularly recurring online events to meet other students from all over the world, and not just from your study programme.

Want to connect with students who take the same programme and courses as you? You’ll meet them in every course Q&A session, or simply connect with them through the Microsoft Teams group chat for each course. You can even chat to our students before you start your studies.

From there, it’s up to you how much interaction you want and how you want to stay in touch. You can meet up online to study together as a studies community or quiz each other, and even set up virtual coffee chats to get to know each other better. It’s a great way to network!

Your study coaches

Studying is just like any other skill – it can be practiced and improved. That’s what our study coaches offer you: a way to improve your studying techniques, and become a more successful student.

Join the regular study coaching events to get tips on how to stay motivated, how to plan your studies, find out what type of student you are - and maximise your results.

Think of them as your mentors and support group. No matter the challenge you’re facing, our study coaches have helped thousands of students successfully complete their studies, and they’ll help you find the best way to navigate your studies.

Your Student Office

Here to help you with all the organisational aspects of your student life, the Student Office is your first point of contact for forms, administrative requests, and other bureaucratic topics.

Not sure if you’ve booked all the right courses? Want to change your study programme or payment method? Just shoot the student office an e-mail, and they’ll take care of the rest.

You’ll also get regular updates from them via the myCampus news feed, with info about your programme, degree, the university, and special initiatives, like our bring a friend programme.

Your career coaches

Once you feel confident in the skills and knowledge you’ve picked up, it’s time to start looking for a job where you can put them into practice.
