Meet Martin Maduka Ejeagwu

Academic Lecturer of Computer Science and Data Science courses at the IU

Martin, a native Nigerian, came to Germany in the 1990s with the ambition of pursuing his academic goals. He embarked on his educational journey by enrolling in to the Weiterbildungskolleg der Stadt Bielefeld where he successfully completed the German Abitur (Advanced Level). This achievement laid a strong foundation for his academic pursuits and enabled him to pursue a Diplom (Master of Business Management) at the Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe. He further expanded his expertise and obtained an MSc. with the Hochschule Furtwangen in Computer Science.

Martin began his professional journey as a Business Analyst and Requirement Engineer, utilizing his skills to digitalize business processes across various industries. After gaining valuable experience in this field for over a decade, he discovered that working in the FINTECH/INSURTECH sector brought him a greater sense of fulfilment. As a result, he made the decision to shift his focus towards developing digital technologies specifically for the financial industry. This led him to take up roles at AXA Insurance and Swiss Life Insurance as Requirement Engineer and Product Owner respectively. In addition to his industry experience, Martin is also an Academic Lecturer at IU University. He specializes in teaching Computer Science and Data Science courses to both bachelor's and master's students. His expertise in these fields allows him to impart valuable knowledge and skills to his students.

Martin's dual role as a consultant in the insurance industry and an educator at the university provides him with a unique perspective. This allows him to bring real-world examples and experiences into the classroom, enhancing the learning experience for his students. His industry experience also ensures that he stays up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in the field, allowing him to provide relevant and cutting-edge education to his students.

Meet Prof. Dr. Thomas Zöller

Programme Director B.Sc. Data Science at IU 

Prof. Dr. Zöller teaches data science at IU. His research revolves around advanced analytics and artificial intelligence, and their relation to digital transformation.

Prof. Dr. Zöller studied computer science and mathematics at the University of Bonn, where he also obtained his PhD in Machine Learning for Image Processing. He spent the following years developing his dissertation in various application-based research roles, in institutions such as the Fraunhofer Society.

Prof. Dr. Zöller has held several different positions in his professional career, working on business intelligence, advanced analytics and AI in a wide variety of sectors, from finance to the auto industry.
